The Directory Guys have done a fantastic job in creating a package
containing the latest and greatest OpenLDAP and associated tools for
Windows. Their product is called CDS Silver and in its basic form is
available free of charge to use (simple registration required). The
installer optionally sets up a running slapd, a sample database and
development libraries. I’ve tested the basic setup, and it
works out of the box. The package also comes with SASL and OpenSSL so it is a
fully compliant LDAP server. What is missing from the free package are a pile
of OpenLDAP modules: if you want those, you have to get a subscription from
Symas. Fair enough, I’d say. Thanks Guys!
