A lot of us have been waiting for this: the DS record for .com has been added to the DNS root, making .com the 65th signed TLD (Top-Level Domain) to be signed and added to the root.
$ dig +dnssec @m.root-servers.net COM ds ;; flags: qr rd ra ad; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1 ;; ANSWER SECTION: COM. 86400 IN DS 30909 8 2 E2D3C916F6DEEAC73294E8268FB5885044A833FC5459588F4A9184CF C41A5766
I had a monitor running, and that notified (pun intended) me. Congratulations to all who made it possible. This is a further step in the right direction: making the DNS -- and thus all services that depend on it -- safer.
