Consider this: your organization has used major-collaboration-product for a number of years and is deploying a new version. During this deployment an issue arises and you file a bug report. Your major-vendor hasn’t a clue and closes the bug report unsolved but is kind enough to send you a link to possible-solution. It turns out that the page the link to possible- solution sent you by major-vendor points to was written by the freelancer you employ. Major-vendor’s representative is simply a very expensive googler under contract. My recommendation to organization: kill the support contract. True story.
