After reading the book I now have access to a test environment running VMware's ESX. It is of course the logical extension to their Server product which I've been using extensively in the last couple of months on my new server (actually, it took quite a beating while developing DAD & miniDAD). The web-based interface to the virtual machines is clear, concise and good looking. It shows the total amount of resources which are currently being used by all VMs on the physical hardware, and it allows me to launch the server console to connect to one of the virtual machines (that thankfully, is no Java rubbish but a Win32 application).
